KISU Club Newsletter - Jan 11, 2026!

Jaren Lefranc

Good Evening KISU!

I hope everyone had a restful Holiday Break and survived the first week back to school, work, and swimming!

I'm keeping this club newsletter relatively short - expect a longer one with the full Sway format in the coming weeks. Here's what we need to be celebrating and promoting as of late:

  1. KISU Success at the Kamloops Ice Classic
    1. This was a historic meet for KISU for several reasons. We had a record number of swimmers attend this meet. We set several meet records. We set one (almost two) Provincial records. We had countless swims that qualify for Provincials and Divisionals. We swept the podium (came first-second-third) in far too many races to count. And, we won the overall team trophy!
    2. This was a monumental meet for us. We were challenged as coaches to celebrate all the swims worthy of celebrating - over 70 swimmers racing around 8 events ... lots of worthy performances! If there is someone interested in doing some data collection and writing recaps of the meets that unfold in 2026... hit my line! I'd love to get some help and feature some different writing in these newsletters.
  2. Upcoming Events
    1. KISU January Jamboree: swimmer signup has closed, but parent volunteer signup has opened! If you have a swimmer racing at this event, you should be helping out in some capacity. Whether that be timing, doing set-up or take down, or working the electronic timing system, please sign up under "Job Sign-Up" on the Jamboree event page. Please reach out if you are having difficulties signing up.
    2. KAJ Snowfest Meet: Entries have gone in. We will have 59 swimmers racing!
    3. KISU 1500 Time Trial: January 31st. We will need parent volunteers to help officiate and time. Please sign up on the website.
    4. Would having a live Document with ALL KISU upcoming events be helpful to you? Well you're in luck. Coach Naomi put together this handy link that does just that. Please access that here.
    5. Swim BC Winter Divisionals hosted by KISU: We will soon be putting a big call-out for volunteers and sponsors for our second home meet of the season. This meet will attract swimmers and their families from as far north as Prince Rupert and as far east as Elk Valley. If your business or a business you love would be interested in supporting this event, please see this flyer, and/or contact Chris at [email protected]
  3. Parent Education
    1. If you are attempting to access the "Officials" side of REMS, please see this infograph. If you are still having issues, please contact [email protected] and someone should be able to help!

Thanks for reading.

Until the next newsletter,

Coach Jaren
