Greyback Megaswim Weekly Update + Mini Club Newsletter - November 19, 2025

Jaren Lefranc

Good evening KISU families,

In this Mini Club Newsletter, I just wanted to share an update on the progress we have made on our club's fundraiser, as well as an update on this week's training as it is DISTANCE WEEK! I'll also briefly touch on the main sections of the regular club newsletter: Remind and Celebrate.

Greyback Megaswim Update:

We current sit at just under $12,000 - just over one third of our goal! To everyone who has begun to collect donations and pledges, thank you! If your swimmer has not started collecting pledges yet, don't worry - there are still 10 more days before the MegaSwim and Awards Breakfast.

Distance Week:

We are currently over half way through our club's "distance week". In the Fall, we always do a club-wide increase in volume to prepare the competitive swimmers for their meet in Kamloops in December. For the swim nerds reading, this increase in volume will eventually lead to a taper - where the volume decreases, rest increases, and speed increases, all of which will hopefully lead to some fast performances in Kamloops.

As of Wednesday:

Academy sits at 37600m

Age Group sits at 17800m

Intermediates sit at 14050m

Super Juniors are at 5100m

Juniors are at 4000m

Remind:

  • Distance Week Shirts - if your swimmer completes the entire prescribed volume during Distance Week, they will be eligible for a shirt commemorating this year's accomplishment. Sign up deadline is November 22nd.
  • Cobs Muffin Meet - this Saturday! Still time to sign up! Email [email protected] to get your swimmer in if they have not already signed up.
  • MegaSwim/Team Practice/Awards Breakfast. Megaswim will happen for Academy and Age Group on Friday November 28th during practice. Intermediates and below will complete their MegaSwim on the 29th. MiniSquad will complete theirs during Wednesday/Thursday practice time, and will have team practice on the 29th.
  • KAJ Winter Jamboree - sign up deadline is today!

Celebrate:

  • Pen High at HS Provincials

Congratulations to the PenHigh Girls for claiming yet another AAA banner at the BCSS Provincials in Richmond. The boys fought hard and earned a valiant runner up position. See attached photo for the full team!

Keep up the great work KISU!
