MiniSquad Co-Ordinator - Anne Benn

After failing Red more times than she wishes to admit, she thought that she would never learn how to swim, and took piano lessons. Piano was not Anne's forte, so she took some more drowning lessons a few years later. Loving the water, but without much technique she was determined to be a swimmer. Anne took up competitive swimming which opened the door to Lifesaving Sport, where she was able to compete with a team from Quebec at the World Lifesaving Games in Australia. Not speaking much French and with a good deal of sign language, it was one of the most rewarding experiences as an athlete, and she is proud to say "Je suis un nager!" Passionate about the sport of lifesaving, she became involved with Junior Lifeguard Club and Lifeguard Competitions. After leaving the big city to spend more time with her family she started coaching swimming again, and loves it more today than she did yesterday. Anne believes that swimming is the only sport that breaks down barriers and that everyone can find his or her own place.
